Festival Executive Producer Neal Rempel is totally pumped about this year’s group of artists. “We’ve got so many great acts coming this year—it’s really a great mix of music, education, entertainment, and comedy for kids—I think it’s the best one we’ve ever offered!” Rempel singled out several acts as “must-see” attractions including Ache Brasil, a Capoeira dance group from British Columbia; Swing, a bilingual duo with a unique sound blending pop and urban folklore; Bobs and Lolo with musical stories and Hilby, The Skinny German Juggle Boy from New York with his very entertaining circus/vaudeville antics.
Back by popular demand is the interactive venue called “Artists & Audiences – Bridging the Gap”. Headline festival artists and groups are scheduled to offer hands-on workshops throughout the four day event. “We offering kids the chance to experience flying through the air on a swinging trapeze…” Rempel enthused, “and they can learn some cool magic tricks, try some dancing moves and make music on all kinds of silly things— it’s a guaranteed ton of fun!”
The Festival is a favourite annual family destination each spring and is continuing the policy of allowing children to attend multiple days for the price of one-day’s admission. “This Festival just offers way too much to be able to take it all in in just one day and we want to make sure that everyone is able to enjoy it as much as possible. All of the performances, the amazing variety of hands-on activities plus a few surprises makes for a full schedule of must do’s.” Rempel says. The Festival asks children (under 12) to simply exchange their previous day’s wristband for a current one at one of the site’s two box office kiosks. Please also note that children under 2 have free admission.
